Local students awarded with Straub Brewery Scholarships

The Elk County Community Foundation recently recognized the 2023 scholarship winners from the Straub Brewery Scholarship Fund. Straub Brewery has been a consistent donor to the foundation and has supported local students with such scholarships for eighteen years. These scholarships recognize high school seniors who have displayed outstanding qualities in academic achievement, leadership, and community service.

Winners of this scholarship include Madisyn Hetrick and Rachel Sloff from ECCHS, as well as Caitlin Blessel and Isabella Catalone from SMAHS. Madisyn and Rachel both plan to attend Duquense University with Madisyn studying Nursing and Rachel studying Forensic Science and Law. Caitlin plans to attend Penn State Altoona to study Biochemistry, and Isabella plans to attend the Indiana University of Pennsylvania to study Nursing. Each student was awarded $1,000.

This year, over $297,000 will be distributed to deserving students thanks to the all the donors who have established scholarships funds at ECCF. The Elk County Community Foundation Board extends their gratitude to Straub Brewery for contributing to the future of our community through their educational support.
